17 high school girls from Gauteng township schools who have been mentored throughout the year by women professionals graduated at a ceremony hosted by IBM on Saturday, 17 October 2015. Mindset Learn was invited to witness the colourful ceremony which was a result of monthly interaction between the learners and mentors who volunteered their weekends to groom the young ladies in a programme called DreamGirls. Mindset’s presence at the ceremony added a much needed academic support the learners need in order to succeed in life.
DreamGilrs International Outreach and Mentoring Programme seek to unite female university students, professionals, entrepreneurs and though leaders to mentor and guide marginalised teen girls to be successful in their pursuit of professional lives. Mindset Learn awarded the school girls stationery packs and bags as part of its schools activation programme. The programme is supported by leading stationery company, BIC SA and independent student accommodation company, South Point, who have been Mindset Learn partners during schools visits.
DreamGirls official, Lebo George said, “We appreciate the support and stationery packs given to the girls, it will go a long way to assist them in their academic life, Mindset and its partners’ contribution will indeed shape tomorrow’s leaders”.
