Ms. Rochelle Pharo Wit Deep Primary School teaches addition of fractions to her Grade 6 learners. From the beginning of the lesson the teacher uses ideas that are relatable to learners about sharing. She encourages the learners to get involved and answer questions during the lesson. The lesson was very practical in that fraction circles and fraction blocks were used by the learners. This is because the can see we can work with different shapes when thinking about fractions. The learners were also encouraged to be creative in that they made up their own raps. These raps were used as a way for them to remember important maths information. They really enjoyed this as it brought in a lot of fun to the Maths class. They will also associate the shapes and the names to fractions.
