Prior to watching this lesson, ask learners to form groups and discuss appropriate and inappropriate uses of code switching. After the class has seen the video, discuss which points in the video lesson were made by the learners, and summarise the guidelines for code switching. After viewing this lesson, you could ask learners to form groups of four, trying to ensure that speakers of as many languages as possible are in each group. Get each group to write a paragraph or dialogue using code switching. Swap the paragraphs or dialogues between groups and see if learners can “crack the code” devised by their classmates.
