In this lesson we learn how to read between the lines of texts in order to determine and comment on the attitude that has been adopted and the style which has been used. We explain that style is created by the register, tone and diction that are used. These terms will be used throughout the series and it would help your learners if you could discuss them beforehand. You could get the learners to work out their own definition for the terms before you give them your definition and, perhaps, illustrate with some examples, so that they don’t miss the key part of the lesson, which is how the features are used differently in different texts.
