In this lesson, the imagery used in a range of South African poems is discussed. You may want to pause the tape after the text of some of the poems is given to allow learners to think about the imagery for themselves and discuss it as a class. This will help them to develop the ability to picture what the poet is describing without waiting to be given the presenter’s explanation. In preparation for this lesson you may want to devise some questions to guide the learners’ thoughts.
