The first lesson introduces learners to the concept of listening as an important communication skill. Developing good listening skills can improve the quality of the information that we put out. The lesson focuses on the skills involved in active listening and emphasises the processes involved such as showing understanding of what the other person is thinking, feeling or wanting, checking our understanding and reflecting back on the message to ensure that we have understood it.
